La Cloe té vint-i-set anys, discapacitat intel·lectual i un desig dins les entranyes des de petita. La incomprensió de la seva família, la fundació on viu i la seva comunitat la durà a una lluita pels seus drets sense precedents, a una rebel·lió maldestre contra una situació injusta que li ha arravatat la tutela del seu propi cos. La Cloe s’afrontarà a la llei dels homes per aconseguir el seu anhel, íntim i natural: quedar-se embarassada i tenir un fill. Però el viatge la farà dubtar d’ella mateixa. Seria ella una bona mare? Quina és la capacitat que ens converteix en bones mares i bons pares? Totes les persones que tenen fills la tenen? Totes les persones amb discapacitat estan incapacitades per afrontar la maternitat?
Mare de sucre de Clàudia Cedó, reflexiona sobre el tracte que estem donant com a societat a les persones amb diversitat funcional. L’assimilació de la jurisdicció dels seus cossos, la sobreprotecció com a excusa per a l’arrabassament de la seva llibertat de decisió.

Cloe is twenty-seven years old, she has an intellectual disability and a desire in her gut since childhood. The misunderstanding of her family, the institution where she lives and her community will lead her to an unprecedented fight for her rights, to a clumsy rebellion against an unjust situation that has robbed her of the guardianship of her own body. Cloe will face the law of men to achieve her longing, intimate and natural: to get pregnant and have a child. But the trip will make her doubt herself. Would she be a good mother? What is the ability that makes us good mothers and fathers? Do all people who have children have it? Are all people with a disability unable to cope with motherhood?
Mare de sucre, by Clàudia Cedó, reflects on the treatment we are giving as a society to people with functional diversity. The assimilation of the jurisdiction of their bodies, the overprotection as an excuse for taking away their freedom of decision.
